POSITION: BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN

PAY RANGE:  $850 to $1,600 + per week (commensurate with experience).

WEEKLY LODGING ALLOWANCE:  $609 per week ($87 per night in field)

WORK DESCRIPTION:
Field Superintendents play a vital role in managing field operations, which will include safety, directing the field employees and properly maintaining the necessary equipment and material resources necessary to complete work on schedule and within budget.  This individual will have the ultimate responsibility to maintain safe, high quality work standards for all employees on his/her crew.  In addition to management responsibilities, he/she must be self-starting, motivated and willing to provide labor effort as necessary to lead the crew employees by work example.  

Field Superintendents employed by E80 Plus Constructors, LLC are commonly involved in all tasks associated with crew management.  The range of work is broad.  It includes, but is not limited to, on-site instruction and training, accomplishment and leadership by example, record keeping and paperwork submittals to the DeForest office.  

A Field Superintendent shall possess in-depth knowledge of the tasks that their crew is performing.  He/she shall also be familiar with or willing to learn railroad operating rules and all Federal Railway Administration guidelines.  A Field Superintendent will be required to supervise, as well as perform, the following tasks and always lead by example:  

Concrete Work
Superintendent will assist in the construction and repair of various concrete structures.  Work items will include, but not be limited to; all phases of concrete construction and restoration from operating a 90-pound jackhammer to final finish work upon cast-in-place concrete.  Shotcrete, epoxy injection, cement grouting, bearing restoration, formwork installation, concrete placement, concrete testing, pile driving and other activities will also fall within the typical scope of work.

Timber Work
Superintendent will assist in the construction and repair of various timber structures.  Work items will include, but not be limited to, all phases of timber construction and restoration.  Work items include pile driving, drilling, inspecting, cutting, and replacing various timber members within a bridge structure.

Steel Work
Superintendent will assist in the construction and repair of various steel structures.  Work items will include, but not be limited to, all phases of steel construction and restoration.  Work items include pile driving, strengthening a structure to increase load capacity, bearing replacement, repair or replacement of corroded or damaged steel members, and minor lead paint removal procedures.

Safety is the most important aspect of any job at E80 Plus Constructors, LLC.   The Field Superintendent and the people of E80 Plus Constructors, LLC shall have a sincere emphasis upon working in a safe manner.  Safety shall be strictly enforced and a condition of continued employment.  E80 Plus realizes that a company is only as good as the people it employs and how these employees work safely and efficiently.

TOOLS and EQUIPMENT USED:
Shovels, picks, chipping hammers, hydraulic tools, hydraulic jacks, hammers, jackhammers, winches, rebar benders, saws, drills, welders, torch, various other hand tools and heavy equipment such as cranes, boom-trucks, excavators, skid steers, forklifts, dozers, man-lifts, pile hammers, vibratory hammers, augers and many more.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Climbing, reaching, handling materials, bending, and balancing from heights are common requirements.

Occasional Requirements: 

  • Lifting from the ground and carrying, pushing, pulling objects up to 100 lbs.
  • Working at great heights.
  • Repetitive climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead.
  • Use of hands with various tools; shoveling.
  • Climbing ladders 20 - 30 times a day.
  • Rivet removal with pneumatic impact buster.
  • Repetitive use of hands for fine motor manipulations.
  • Concrete demolition with a 90 lb. hammer.
  • Crawling in close quarters stripping concrete forms.
  • Cutting steel material with an oxygen acetylene torch.
  • Cutting material with an air-arc slice tool.
  • Sandblasting operations.
  • Working with various steel fabrication tools.
  • Welding knowledge.
  • Proper rigging knowledge and techniques. 

POSSIBLE ENVIRONMENTAL / HEALTH EXPOSURES:
Cold and hot temperatures, wet and dry conditions, day or night time periods, dust, chemical vapors, lead fumes, and falls from heights. 

TYPICAL WORK WEEK:
Five 10-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, except as specifically requested by the Customer.  

TRAVEL:
Travel is of a continuous job-to-job nature and is a job requirement.  E80 Plus values its employees and its employee’s families.  A traveling position, as this, requires as much home time as feasible.  E80 Plus Constructors provides a $5,000 travel reimbursement allowance per year for travel expenses home or for an immediate family member’s travel to the jobsite.
